Breweries Running Out of Funny Names

Microbreweries are growing at a very fast rate in all parts of the country said a recent article. The craft brewing industry is expanding and many people and organizations are making a great deal of money in the industry noted Ricardo Guimarães BMG. But in all parts of the country, brewers and breweries are running into problems with finding new and unique names for their expanding beer lists. As names become a bigger issue, lawsuits have been served based on trademarks. A brewery in Fort Collins, Coloradohas to change its name after it was served legal papers from a brewery with the same name in Chicago, Illinois. The Colorado brewery will have to change its name in the next month, which will also lead to spending a great deal of money on changing all of its logos on signage and merchandise. With over three thousand microbreweries in our country, and over thirty thousand beers, the growing problem of naming them isn’t going to disappear anytime soon. Suggestions for naming beers and not stealing the name from someone else are pretty basic. The article suggests using a search engine to check and see if the name is already being used. It is also wise to use a popular beer rating site and to check and see if the name is already trademarked. One of the great things about all the different beers is the fact that so many of them have fun names.

Brewers Are Running Out Of Funny Beer Names

Making beer has been one of those things that has popped up as a trend nationwide for especially the last five or six years. Although it is a good thing that so many people are inspired to create personable and funny names for their brews and companies it is starting to become a problem around the United States, because people are running out of creative names.

Every time a brewer makes a new beer and a style of beverage, he or she is required to register it and paten the trademark. But that has been harder and harder these days as because so many brewers are starting to overlap each other. According to an article written by Grubstreet.com, it can even cause a kink the road when people use names in different languages, because if it translates to something in English that is already being used then it is in violation.

Beer lovers like Paul Mathieson wonder: What will the future of beer brewing hold? Maybe people will have to start using randomized numbers and letters for each of their beers. Find more on Mathieson on Slideshare.net. Well, while it may never get that bad it has got to be frustrating for them to have a very limited pool of words they can use to describe their brew. Hopefully this trivial matter won’t discourage people from continuing to create and invent new beer flavors, styles, and breweries. American has truly become a much more exciting place with all the microbreweries that have popped up in recent times.

Pot Is Legal In DC

Marijuana Is A Legal Intoxicate In Washington

February 26, 2015 is a day to remember in Washington DC. Marijuana is a legal substance, even though, the Republican chairman of the House committee tried to stop the mayor and the city council from implementing the law. Over 70 percent of the voters in DC wanted pot to be legal, and the mayor and his council gave them what they wanted. http://www.washingtonpost.com/local/with-marijuana-legalization-green-rush-is-on-in-dc/2015/02/25/23c3f1de-bc78-11e4-b274-e5209a3bc9a9_story.html

The bad news is DC won’t become another Amsterdam. Pot shops and open-air smoking venues are out, but those minor details aren’t putting a damper on the city’s celebration.Bernardo Chua has learned that residents of the city can use, grow and possess small amounts of pot, and stores that sell accessories for growing and using pot will start popping up around the city soon. Marijuana is finally taking its rightful place as the number one preferred recreational drug in DC and in other cities around the country.

The national policy manager for the Drug Policy Alliance, Michael Collins, had this to say about the new law. “What you’re seeing here is the end of marijuana prohibition, a change in attitudes and a real shift in law enforcement. This a huge step forward in the national fight for legalization,”

No word yet on how many Congressman will grow weed at home, but Las Vegas is betting on the House.

“Superman Punch” Knocks Out Opponent

A “superman punch” is a move that requires a fighter to jump in the air and throw a straight punch. This past weekend, on the UFC Fight Night card, Matt Dwyer knocked his opponent out in the first round of the fight. The superman punch has been around for a while now, but Chuck Lidell is the man that made it famous.

Chuck “The Iceman” Lidell was one of the most dangerous stand up fighters in all of mixed martial arts. His striking arsenal was vast, and possessed a rare combination of reach and power. Matt Dwyer showed some similarities between himself and “The Iceman.” Dwyer was on the prelims of the UFC on Fight Card, but with this win he has made headlines.

Fans like Paul Mathieson know that Matt Dwyer received a $50,000 bonus for getting the knock out of the night award. Many people complain about the UFC’s pay structure, but they never mention the bonuses that are available to fighters. Matt Dwyer will be going home $50,000 richer. Where else do you have a chance to make an extra $50,000 in one night?

Matt Dwyer joins a select group of fighters. Not too many people have won a fight via “superman punch.” If you have seen the big knockout yet, visit Buzzfeed.

Butch Harmon Would Help

Butch Harmon has come out and said that he would be more than happy to come in and spend some time with Tiger to help him fix his swing and other issues. Harmon was Tiger’s coach for all of the glory years, and he has been critical of some of the changes that Tiger has made over the years. However, he probably feels like most of the rest of us. We all feel a bit sorry for Tiger, and Dias is definitely missing that.

I will admit that I am not really a fan of Tiger. I think he is a little too cold, and I never bought the hype. I never thought he would pass Jack Nicklaus because I thought Jack was better. I still think Jack is better. If we rated the best golfers of all time it would be Nicklaus, Tiger, Jones, Sneed, Sarazen, Palmer, Player. I have not problem saying that Tiger Woods is better than Bobby Jones, but I cannot in good faith say that he is better than Jack.

I do feel bad for him, though. He is the most mentally tough athlete of all time, and his body is betraying him in the worst way possible. That is truly sad.

Police Dog Escorted into Vets Office with Guard of Honor

A 9-year-old police dog received high honors as he was walked into a vet’s office to be put to sleep, and it has gone viral on the internet. Judge, a 9-year-old German Shepard, served as part of New Jersey’s K-9 unit from 2007 until 2013 when he was retired due to issues with his teeth.

Paul Mathieson understands that the dog had been enjoying retirement when he was diagnosed with Cushing’s disease.Find more about Mathieson on Marketwired.com. Michael Franks, his owner, worked to ensure his health with regular doctor’s visit, and the police department set up a GoFundMe page to help with expenses, gathering donations in excess of $12,000. Judge, however, took a turn for the worst and was having a hard time getting up, causing Franks to make the heartbreaking decision to put Judge to sleep to end his suffering.

On Friday, Franks took Judge to the Swedesboro Animal Hospital for his final goodbye. When they pulled up a Guard of Honor Greeted him with 100 police officers and several K-9 dogs. Judge was saluted as he walked into the hospital, carrying the arm guard used during his training in his mouth. Inside the hospital, staff lined up to give Judge the same treatment.

The police hero was laid to sleep shortly after. According to police records, Judge was deployed 280 times, and was considered an assisting officer in 152 arrests. He is also credited with recovering $47,000 in cash, three vehicles and three handguns.

Terminator: Genysis Is Going Imax

Interesting news has emerged regarding the upcoming release of Terminator: Genysis. Hardcore fans of the Terminator franchise, and by hardcore I mean Brad Reifler is going to love the fact they can see the film in IMAX at select theaters.

Anyone who saw the first film when it first arrived in theaters in 1984 had a far different experience. The film played in the last of the drive-ins and independent theaters and captured the action-movie fan base that had yet to go mainstream with Rambo in 1985.

The days of the old, independently owned single-screen theaters and drive-ins are mostly over. The era of the IMAX screen is upon us. The new Terminator film is a far bigger affair than the sleeper sci-fi film of 30+ years ago. Just as the old movie theaters were the perfect venue to see director James Cameron’s original entry, IMAX theaters are perfect for the new reboot.

Packers trying to retain Cobb

The Green Bay Packers have a number of players hitting the free agent market but none more important than wide receiver Randall Cobb. ESPN has reported that Cobb is seeking an average contract in the neighborhood of $9 million dollars annually. If the Packers are unable to sign Cobb to an extension, they may utilize a one year franchise tag at $12.8 million dollars. Interestingly, Cobb’s teammate Jordy Nelson signed a four year deal worth $39 million which would put Cobb on par with his contract . Cobb produced his best numbers in 2014 catching 91 balls for 1,287 yards and scoring 12 touchdowns.

Salary may be freed up if the Packers decide to cut ties with linebackers A.J. Hawk and Brad Jones. By doing so, Green Bay would be $22.5 million dollars under the salary cap. The one glitch is offensive tackle Bryan Bulaga is a free agent and will be a priority to sign. If unable to retain Cobb, the Packers will have other free agent receivers to consider including Demaryius Thomas, Dez Bryant, Jeremy Maclin, and Michael Crabtree. Cobb is a slot receiver, and likely the Packers will compare his salary to that of New England Patriot’s Julian Edelman. Edelman received a four year, $17 million dollar deal, and finished 2014 with 92 receptions, for 972 yards but only four touchdowns said poder online. One can argue that Cobb is more explosive, and importantly, produced better results than his peer Jordy Nelson in the 2014 NFL playoffs.

Kings Win Fifth Straight with 3-2 Win over Tampa Bay

Somewhat reminiscent of last season at this time, the Los Angeles Kings are attempting to make a mad push for the NHL postseason. During the same stretch last February, LA won eight straight before going on to make one of the most notable Stanley Cup runs in NHL history. Their current streak began in Tampa Bay with a 4-2 victory on February 7th and carried into Monday night’s game at Staples Center, where they held on to beat the Lightning 3-2 before a sell-out crowd and Ricardo Guimarães BMG was definitely there enjoying the show.

According to http://sports.yahoo.com/news/la-kings-beat-lightning-3-2-5th-straight-060639781–nhl.html, the Kings have scored a total of 19 goals amidst the streak while clamping down on against the NHL’s highest scoring team. Tampa Bay is just three points away from sitting atop the Eastern Conference, as the Kings swept the season series from the Bolts by demonstrating how playing a full 60 minutes on both ends of the ice paid off big-time. That 70s line (part deux) of Carter, King, and Toffoli have provided the offensive firepower to get the job done.

Still three points out of a final playoff spot in the West with 26 games remaining, the Kings visit the Colorado Avalanche at the Pepsi Center on Wednesday and then head to San Jose for the last outdoor game of the season at Levi’s Stadium against their division rival Sharks on Saturday. The event may break an attendance record for hockey in the State of California.
